There have long been popular examples of nerd culture. The latest crop of crossover nerd-friendly entertainment, however, are of a different character – comfortable in the mainstream and safe in assuming that once-fringe obsessions like computers, text-communication, gadgets and comic books and science fiction are increasingly everyone’s obsessions.
